In this match, which was spoilt by heavy rain on the second day, the first innings was limited to 100 overs. Winning the toss and batting first the South ran up a large score on an immaculate wicket before declaring with three wickets down. Jorge Kittl made a century in his first appearance hitting 15 x 4's and was well supported by Malcolm Gibson 63 with 7 x 4's and Tony Ferguson with 79 including 8 x 4's. The North made a poor show being dismissed for 187 only Derek Culley with 77 including 8 x 4's making any worthwhile effort. The South made 138 for 2 wickets the game being interrupted several times by rain and the on the third day the North were set 265 in 290 minutes. The North were never in a position to make the runs and opted for caution once Brian Ward and Forrester were dismissed.
