Lincolnshire only had 10 men. The Durham secretary, TA Bulmer, fielded as a substitue in both Durham innings.
Durham won this return match by ten wickets in a single day, after rain prevented play on the first day. The match between the two sides in June at Grimsby had also been won by Durham. On the first day the rain did not stop until 1.45 pm and, after an inspection at 3.00 pm, it was agreed a start be made at 4.30 pm. However, at that time four of the Lincolnshire team were absent and it was decided to delay the start until the second day. For the winners, Morris took 12 wickets in the match for 74 runs, including 8 for 28 in the Lincolnshire second innings. There were 2 sixes and 12 fours in Harrison's 95. For the losers, there were 2 fours and 1 four respectively in Thompson's two innings of 20 and 20 not out. Lincolnshire played with only ten men.
