Hertfordshire won this match by 209 runs on the second day. On the first day the Hertfordshire captain had not enforced the follow-on as he considered it unlikely that Suffolk would bat so poorly again in their second innings. The state of the wicket was reported as being of considerable assistance to the fast bowling of Coleman, especially on the second day when press reports suggest it was fortunate no Suffolk batsman had been injured. For the winners, Coleman took 13 wickets in the match for 38 runs, including 6 wickets for 15 runs in the Suffolk first innings and 7 wickets for 23 runs in the second. Coleman also top scored for Hertfordshire with 42. For the losers, Penfold took 10 wickets in the match 131 runs, including 6 wickets for 89 runs in the Hertfordshire first innings. In the winners second innings Trudgett took 6 wickets for 75 runs. He also top scored with 20. In the Suffolk first innings six wickets fell at the same total of 32, and in the second innings the last four wickets fell at 63.
