Staffordshire won by this return match by 138 runs at 12.20 pm on the second day. The match between the two sides at Jesmond in June had been drawn. For the winners, Barnes and Bucknell bowled unchanged through both innings, Barnes taking 10 wickets for 54 runs, and Bucknell 10 wickets for 57 runs. There were 2 fours in Briggs's 53. For Northumberland, Gillespie top-scored with 38 containing 6 fours.
