Hertfordshire won this match by an innings and 142 runs at 5.20 pm on the second day, after enforcing the follow-on. For the winners, Butcher scored 200 not out, Harford 63 and White 58. In the Hertfordshire innings, Butcher and White put on 106 for the first wicket, and Butcher and Harford added 127 for the eighth wicket. For Cambridgeshire, Tebbutt's 77 contained 9 fours. Cambridgeshire had the worst of the batting conditions, but press comment expressed disappointment they did not save the match.
