In the Hertfordshire innings, Butcher and White put on 106 for the first wicket, and Butcher and Harford added 127 for the eighth wicket. For Cambridgeshire, Tebbutt's 77 contained 9 fours. Cambridgeshire had the worst of the batting conditions, but press comment expressed disappointment they did not save the match.
