Wiltshire won this return match by 110 runs after lunch on the second day, after Devon required 212 for victory. The game between the two teams at Exeter the week before had also been won by Wiltshire. For the winners, Ellison scored 65 with 6 fours, Perkins 62 with 9 fours and Newman 56 with 6 fours. Overton took 9 wickets in the match for 93 runs. For Devon, Light scored 85, which included 16 fours, and Brunskill 59 not out. Brunskill carried his bat through the Devon second innings of 101 a feat achieved on five other occasions during the year. Light took 9 wickets in the game for 134 runs, including 8 for 64 in the Wiltshire second innings.
