When the Knickerbocker Athletic Club had made the small score noted above they refused to finish the game complaining that the light was too bad. The game was thus awarded to Brooklyn although the opponents said they would protest the decision. It would seem that they actually didn't and it was they only game they lost this year being crowned champions at the end of the season.
