Match notes
New South Wales made a great start to the match but once Bombelli had been dismissed Fitzgerald and Tallon soon brought the innings to an end. Queensland replied poorly with only Douglas Allen and Frank Hardcastle making any stand. When New South Wales batted again Bombelli produced another good score while McCaffrey and Pepper added 171 for the fifth wicket to place New South Wales in the ascendency. Requiring 452 to win Queensland made a good reply but fell one hundred short, team captain Guttormsen leading the way with a fine century and a number of batsmen making useful contributions.
