Match notes
New South Wales began at a steady rate and the first wicket fell after 65 minutes. Falk lasted two and one half hours but the foundation being laid Rowe went after the bowling and brought up his century in 97 minutes, finishing with twenty-two fours in his runa a minute innings. Lush also scored at a run a minute while Govan, omitted from the Queensland team for the southern tour, took the bowling honours in a quite impressive spell.
The New South Wales innings ended quickly on the second morning And Queensland opened with 59 before Adrian, the Manly leg spinner was introduced into the attack. In his first over he dismissed Crommelin and followed with the wickets of Bryce and O'Shea to complete a hat trick. Allen batted soundley before being fifth out at 86 but the remainder of the batting collapsed to Adrian. Following on Allen again played soundly while O'Shea hit out and scored his 38 runs in 46 minutes. By stumps Queensland had reached a seemingly hopeless position and on the third morning the innings was only extended by Raymond. Allen is stated to have batted for over two and one half hours for his 64 runs.
