Play commenced at 3.58 p.m. on the second afternoon and concluded for the day at 5.38 p.m. after one hundred minutes. On the third scheduled day play commenced at 9.30 a.m. and from the third ball of the first over Nielsen was dismissed. The innings concluded at 12.57 p.m., shortly after the lunch break. The New South Wales innings commenced at 1.06 p.m. and was interrupted by rain at 1.51 p.m. after 11.5 overs. A further four minutes of play took place before rain again interrupted at 2.49 p.m. No further play was possible for that afternoon and the rain continued on the fourth scheduled day. The match was abandoned as a draw. New South Wales retained the Sydney Gregory Cup. This was the fiftieth match played in competition for the Sydney Gregory Cup.
