After the first day of the first-class match between the two teams was washed out, it was agreed to play the match on a single-innings basis. This was originally to be of 75 overs per side, but was changed to 70 on the second day.
When the match finished early on the second day, a single wicket contest was played to fill in the remaining time.
Hanif Mohammad took over as the Rest of the World XI wicket-keeper and took a catch, when A.T.W.Grout injured a finger early in the match.
