Kolkata Knight Riders announced that there will be no “fixed captain” for the team during the season 2 of IPL. Team coach John Buchanan made this decision after discussions with the captain for last season Sourav Ganguly. Both were present in the press conference where this was formally announced in Kolkata.

Buchanan clarified at the press conference by saying that it was not due to any disrespect that he had gone with the idea of four captains but for Ganguly to concentrate more on his batting and bowling. Brendon McCullum, Chris Gayle, Brad Hodge and Sourav Ganguly are expected to have their turns at leading the team.

It is learnt that Buchanan on Tuesday had a long discussion with Ganguly, KKR’s captain last year, in this regard and the latter nodded in the affirmative. Later, Ganguly told a news channel: “All I can say this has never happened in cricket. Let’s see how things turn out.”
