New Zealand keeper batsman Brendon McCullum is in doubt for the 2nd ODI against India on Friday after picking up a thumb injury in the 1st ODI. New Zealand are already 1-0 down in the series and their hopes of leveling the series in the next game could be given a major blow if McCullum is not available for the game. One thing however is for sure that McCullum will not be keeping wickets even if he plays, in which case Peter McGlashan is set to be given a game.

Skipper Daniel Vettori was obviously a little concerned with the developments but is hoping that McGlashan will help maintain the balance that McCullum provides with his all-round abilities.

McCullum picked up the injury during the end overs of the Indian innings while standing up to the stumps to medium pacer Grant Elliot. Replays showed that the ball thudded awkwardly into the gloves and there was no doubt that McCullum was in serious trouble immediately.

Vettori is also not sure as to what the balance of the side maybe in case McCullum is not fit to play at all. If he plays, Neil Broom is likely to sit out and if he does not, there might be some changes in the batting order with Guptill and Ryder being the most likely to open the innings.
