Former Leicestershire, Lancashire and Ramsbottom Cricketer John Savage passed away after a short illness on Tuesday.
 
Born in Ramsbottom in 1929, John made his debut for his local club at East Lancashire on 10th June 1946, playing for them until 1952. He joined Leicestershire in 1953 serving them well until 1966 before finishing his career at Lancashire for 3 seasons. 
As an off-break bowler he took 965 first class wickets in his career spanning 16 years. 
His son Richard Savage also played for Ramsbottom in the late 70's.
