Who's saying what at the World 2007 Cup:

"I thought in the batting department we looked a bit more nervous, and a little bit more aware of our surroundings that this was the opening match of the World Cup, but once we got onto the field for the second half of the match, the guys looked very professional."
- West Indies skipper Brian Lara on his team's sluggish start to their opening win over Pakistan at Sabina Park.
"Our middle order is a very experienced batting line-up and we should have taken more responsibility in the opening game of the tournament."
- Pakistan captain Inzamam-ul-Haq after the 54-run defeat
"Doing a few raids on gang houses wasn't particularly nice and mortuary stuff wasn't great. There were a few dead bodies along the line. It puts everthing into perspective. If you get hit for four, you get hit for four."
- New Zealand pace bowler Shane Bond on his earlier career as a policeman before turning to cricket full-time
"Some of them have been very cruel. They had a reference to Eddie Murphy's Nutty Professor. I don't think that's necessary."
- Allison Leverock, the mother of 255-pound (115kg) Bermuda spinner Dwayne, hitting back at the jokes aimed at her son because of his size.
"I have always felt they're a team that don't handle pressure as well as the Australian team. The fact that they are ranked no.1 now means a lot more pressure to hold that position and we'll see what happens."
- Glenn McGrath takes a pot shot at South Africa who deposed Ausrtralia as the world's top-ranked team.(Article: Copyright © 2007 AFP)
