DateLine: 26th June 2006
Brendon McCullum joined Glamorgan midway through the 2006 season as a replacement overseas player following Mark Cosgrove`s return to Australia to play in their A team during the `Top End` series in Darwin and Cairns between late June and July.

McCullum became the second New Zealand Test cricketer to play for the Welsh county, following the signing of James Franklin earlier in the summer. The batsman wicket-keeper was signed very much with the Twenty20 Cup in mind, as the Kiwi had a very good track record with the bat in the shorter form of the game.
In addition to some impressive performances in One-Day Internationals for the Black Caps, he was also a member of the Canterbury side that won the New Zealand State Twenty20 competition in 2005/06. Indeed, in the final of the competition, against Auckland, McCullum smashed 62 off just 22 balls with 4 fours and 6 sixes as Canterbury strolled to a 6 wicket win and the State trophy.
McCullum had also featured in three Twenty20 internationals for New Zealand, including their inaugural game in February 2005 against Australia at Auckland. On that occasion, McCullum opened the batting and hit a rapid 36 off just 24 balls, with 5 fours and a six before being dismissed by Michael Kasprowicz, Glamorgan`s former overseas bowler.
In addition, the Kiwi has played in two other Twenty20 internationals against South Africa at Johannesburg in October 2005 and the West Indies at Auckland in February 2006 and could boast an impressive strike rate of 176 in his Twenty20 career.
