MEDIA INFORMATION The NatWest Series One-Day International (Floodlit) England v Pakistan Wednesday 30 August 2006 Sophia Gardens, Cardiff

Glamorgan Cricket is pleased to announce that the NatWest Series One-Day International between England and Pakistan has sold out. Sophia Gardens will host the Ashes Series winners, England, for the first time in a full international match when they take on Pakistan in the first of five NatWest Series One-Day Internationals on Wednesday 30th August 2006.
"We're naturally delighted to be confirming a sell-out almost three months ahead of the fixture," said Mike Fatkin, Glamorgan Cricket's Chief Executive. "We predicted a huge demand for the game, particularly following the excitement which surrounded England's superb win in last year's Ashes Series and that has proved to be the case. This is a great news story for both the city, and Wales as a nation, with yet another sell-out, major international sporting event being held in Cardiff."
The announcement comes hot on the heels of news that the Club has won the right to host one of the NatWest Series One-Day Internationals against South Africa in 2008 and an nPower Ashes Test against Australia in 2009. The demand for this year's international adds yet further weight to the admission of Cardiff to the elite group of county grounds who have the privilege of hosting full England Test matches and the timely forthcoming re-development of Sophia Gardens which will see another first-class stadium in Wales capable of hosting major events on the world stage.
The Club has a solid track record having hosted four 'neutral' internationals - Australia/Pakistan in 2001, Zimbabwe/South Africa in 2003, West Indies/New Zealand in 2004 and Australia/Bangladesh in 2005 - as well as staging the ICC Cricket World Cup match between Australia and New Zealand in 1999.
