There has been some ill-informed comment regarding the various issues relating to the current Test match at Lahore. The PCB wishes to clarify the following points:
a. Sequence of Test Matches
Knowing the weather conditions in the Punjab fog and fading light PCB had initially scheduled the first Test Match in Karachi and subsequent Test matches in Faisalabad and Lahore. This sequence would have led to two Test matches in Punjab being scheduled in better light and weather conditions. However, in deference to BCCIs reservations the schedule had to be changed and a side match and the first Test match was scheduled in Lahore.
b. Mushtaq Ahmed
Mushtaq Ahmed has been retained in the team as Bowling Consultant and not as a Bowling Coach, a role that he had played during the ODIs against England. Members of the Ad hoc Committee had been consulted before the appointment was made.
