Zahid Sadiq could hardly have had a less fulfilling Derbyshire career. Specifically registered and given his first team debut in the last match of the 1990 season (after many matches in the second XI), he made 0, didnt bowl and didnt take any catches. Despite such a forgettable match, Sadiq was actually offered terms for the 1991 season, although he refused this contract. He had scored 64 on his First-class debut for Surrey (against Cambridge University), although he only averaged 13.14 in the championship for the South Londoners. Sadiq reappeared for Surreys second XI in 1993, although no contract was forthcoming, although his cousin Aftab Habib later had more luck in going on to play Test cricket for England.
