Former Haslingden wicketkeeper John Simpson has passed 1,000 runs in The County Championship for the first time in Middlesex's match at New Road against Worcestershire.

 

Simpson made 92 in promotion chasing Middlesex's 509 all out, a first innings lead of 284.

 

The 34 year-old has hit three centuries and six half centuries in averaging over 60 with the bat.

 

He also has 48 victims going in to the final day of the season.
