Event: | Pakistan in Australia 2009/10 |
DateLine: 24th January 2010
The Australian side proved too hot for the Pakistani side to handle as the hosts eased to 140 runs win. With this win Australia take lead in the five match series. Batting first the Australian side amassed 267 for the loss of 6 wickets in 50 overs while Pakistan in reply scored just 127 in 37.5 overs.

The Australian side got off to a blazing start as Watson (69, 71 balls, 9x4, 1x6) and Marsh (41, 60 balls, 4x4) put the Pakistani bowlers to sword. The pair added 100 in 19.5 overs before Afridi intervened twice. The leg spinner removed both the openers to put brakes on the scoring and he was well supported by an accurate Ajmal. Ponting (13, 28 balls) continued to struggle with his form and it took some late order hitting from White (55, 58 balls, 4x4, 1x6) to push the Australian score to 267 in their 50 overs.
The Pakistani side in reply got off to a bad start as they lost Butt (2, 15 balls) and Younis Khan (0, 3 balls). Kamran Akmal (16, 31 balls, 1x4, 1x6) tried to counterattack but was comically run-out. The rest of the batting crumbled without putting up any semblance of fight with only skipper Mohammad Yousuf (58, 94 balls, 3x4, 1x6) showing his team-mates as how to counter the rampaging Australian bowlers. In the end the Pakistani side got bowled out for a pathetic 127.LATEST SCORES
