The International Cricket Council event technical committee has approved Cameron White as a replacement for Andrew Symonds in the Australian squad for the tournament.

 

According to an ICC release, White takes over from Symonds who was recalled by Cricket Australia after a breach of Australia team rules. The committee decided that given the particular circumstances of this case it would grant Cricket Australia the right to replace Symonds in the squad.

 

The event technical committee of the ICC World Twenty20 2009 consists of David Richardson (ICC General Manager – Cricket and technical committee chairman), Steve Elworthy (tournament director), Campbell Jamieson (representative of IDI, the ICC’s commercial arm which runs major ICC events), Alan Fordham (ECB representative), Ian Bishop (independent nomination) and David Lloyd (independent nomination).
