Chanderpaul has been the biggest power centre of the West Indian batting line-up for almost a decade now. No matter what the format is, this uncanny batsman who defies logic and technique of the coaching manuals is one of the best in the business of batting. He is also the first East Indian to play 100 Tests for the West Indies. The southpaw who never plays in the V or off the front foot is a tough customer at the crease and scores a huge percentage of runs straight down the ground. The Guyanese though did not have a successful stint as skipper and he resigned from the post in 2006. He cited lapse of concentration in batting as the reasoning to step down. The reason though worked as he went on to score 744 runs at 57.23 in the 2006-07season with six fifties and two consecutive hundreds.
