Former Ramsbottom professional has signed as Lancashire's second overseas player for 2005 subject to his international commitments. Hodge, who had two seasons with Leicestershire, the second as captain, joins Muttiah Muralitharan on the county staff. The Australian was professional at Ramsbottom in 2000 and 2001 leading his side to a Worsley Cup Final win against Bacup with an unbeaten 86 in his second season.

 

Another former Lancashire League professional in the news is James Franklin. The former Rishton player became only the second New Zealander to take a hat-trick in a Test match when he performed the feat against Bangladesh in Dhaka on the second day of the 1st Test.
