Scorecard: | Middlesex v Lancashire |
Summary for Day 4
Persistent spells of rain throughout the day prevented Lancashire from bowling Middlesex out for a second time and collecting 22 points for victory. However, with the wicket playing very well for the final day of the match, it was highly unlikely that the bowlers could have captured 10 wickets. For the third consecutive match the weather managed to stop Lancashire from gaining a possible victory.
Bowling Performance of the Day
With Andrew Flintoff absent, and Glen Chapple clearly suffering flu-like symptoms, Lancashire were restricted to using just 3 bowlers. They all tried in vein to capture a wicket.
Batting Performance of the Day
Andrew Strauss scored a patient, if not spectacular 100 from 181 balls. He was determined not to be dismissed.
Fielding Performance of the Day
John Wood fielded well in the outfield. He made a couple of excellent diving stops, and his throwing was accurate and powerful.
Highlight of the Day
Actually watching 27 overs play on such an awful day.
Lowlight of the Day
Lancashire were unable to clinch victory for the third game in a row due to the weather.
Contentious Discussion Point of the Day
Nothing to report.
