John Roberts had an illustrious career with the R.A.F., and had the left-handed batsman been available more often, he could have had a highly successful career with Glamorgan.
Roberts played four times for the county in the mid 1930`s, and after the war played for the Combined Services between 1946 and 1949. He showed his prowess in 1947 by scoring 52 against the touring Springboks at Portsmouth.
Roberts rose to the rank of Air Vice-Marshall and was awarded both the C.B.E. and O.B.E.
