LEACH, Harold.
Amateur.
Born at Lower Fold, Rochdale, Lancashire, 13th March 1862.
Died at Widcombe, Bath, Somerset, 15th February 1928.
One of the five sons of Robert Leach, of The Harridge, Rochdale, who were all educated at Marlborough and who all played first-class cricket for Lancashire. Harold was a member of the Marlborough cricket eleven 1877-79. He played in three first class matches, one for Lancashire in 1881 and one for Liverpool & District in 1891. He went to Liverpool in 1880 and for six years worked for the firm of G. A. Tilney & Co., stockbrokers. He then went into partnership in the firm of Lawrence Mill and Leach and on the death of his partner set up on his own in January 1892, at Queen Insurance Buildings, 10 Dale Street, Liverpool, stock and share broker.
He played his club cricket for the Dingle Club, Princes Park, Liverpool, being captain for the last seven years of its existence, and then for the Liverpool C.C.
When he was first married in 1896 he lived at 26 Alexandra Drive, Liverpool,. Later he was at Grange Hill, Caldy, Cheshire and when he died his residence was Ingleton, Aigburth Hall Road, Liverpool.
In the 1881 he is a 19 year old clerk to a stock broker lodging with William and Jane Jones and family at 14 Admiral Street, Toxteth Park, Liverpool.
