Player: | T Arnott |
Trevor Arnott was a regular in the Glamorgan side between 1921 and 1930, and he led the county in 1928 with a calm and debonair authority. In 1926 Arnott became the first Glamorgan cricketer to claim a hat-trick in the County Championship, by achieving the feat against Somerset at the Arms Park.

Arnott bowled at a lively medium pace and was an aggressive strokemaker in Glamorgan`s middle-order, recording some rapid centuries. His maiden century against Derbyshire at Swansea in 1924 came up in only 75 minutes, with Arnott reaching this personal landmark with a mighty six onto the roof of the St.Helen`s grandstand.
His most successful summer with the ball was 1923 when Arnott claimed 64 victims, including 5/50 against Surrey, 6/98 against Yorkshire and a career-best 7/40 in the victory over the West Indians. Arnott was a close friend of Johnnie Clay, and agreed to stand in as the county`s captain in 1928 when Clay`s business commitments prevented him from leading the side on a regular basis.
Arnott also toured Jamaica with Tennyson`s XI in 1927/28 and South America with Sir Julian Cahn`s XI in 1929/30. After retiring from county cricket, he coached at Monmouth School and also became a useful golfer.
