Due to transport difficulties, only 5 Australians (Armstrong, Laver, Collins, Mailey and Macgregor) took the field at the start of the game along with 6 of the home team acting as substitute fielders, one of whom (McKellar) took 3 catches and another (W McLaren) effected the run out of Doherty after dropping the catch off that delivery. The rest of the Australians arrived at the ground at the end of the South Taranaki first innings.
The Australians were 61 for 2 wickets (Armstrong 32*, Noble 1*) after 21 minutes batting in their second innings when they won the game. The bowling figures of the South Taranaki bowlers who did not take any wickets in the Australians second innings were not shown in the newspaper reports or in the scorecard of the game in the NZ Cricket Annual Report.
