The match between the two sides at Jesmond in June had been won by Northumberland.
Northumberland required 65 runs to win in their second innings.
The Grimsby News reported that "Gillespie made the winning hit with a couple off Nevile, who had just gone on, the runs having been knocked off in about 25 minutes.
Continuing the over Gillespie hit another boundary Northumberland's total being 70 for one."
For the winners Gillespie scored 167 in the Northumberland first innings which contained 2 sixes and 25 fours, and Arkwright 77 with 14 fours.
These two added 163 runs for the third wicket in the first innings.
For Lincolnshire, the debutant Haddesley scored 57 which contained 4 fours.
