Staffordshire won by 10 wickets on the second day, a single ball securing victory in their second innings.
The match earlier in the season had been drawn with Kent winning on first innings. For the winners Nichols scored 128, an innings taking 3¾ hours, with 13 fours and Taylor 60 with 1 six, 1 five and 4 fours. The pair added 102 for the fourth wicket.
In the Kent first innings Deyes took 5 for 62 and in the second Barnes took 6 for 39. For the losers the tail wagged in their first innings to total 182 from a position of 58 for 5 wickets. When Kent followed on, Collins scored 67 with 1 six and 8 fours, and Snowdon with 34 and Dutnall with 32 made useful contributions.
