The match between the two sides at Camborne earlier this month had been won by Cornwall.
By shortening the luncheon interval, the finish time had been brought forward to 5.50 pm to enable the Cornishmen to catch a train. For Cornwall Vibart scored 84 which included 6 fours, H Tresawna scored 78, J C Bickford-Smith 77, and Maunsell 53. In the second Cornwall innings J C Bickford-Smith and Hawken added 50 for the eighth wicket. The Cornwall professional Trevarthen, who had not missed a county match for 15 years, was so poorly that Dr Tresawna sent him to bed and he was replaced in the team by the 12th man. For Dorset Bolton scored 69, Fowler 60, A M Harrison 53 and Goodden 50. In the first Dorset innings Fowler and Bolton added 117 for the first wicket. In the first Dorset innings Webb injured a finger and was forced to retir but resumed his innings on the second day.
