Devon won this return match by 9 wickets at 3.20 pm on the second day. The match between the two sides at Exeter earlier in the month had also been won by Devon. For the winners, Boles took 11 wickets in he match for 78 runs, including 7 for 25 in the Monmouthshire second innings. Rain delayed the start of play on the second day until after lunch. In the Devon second innings H W King fielded as substitute for the injured F Rees.
