Hertfordshire won this return match by the close margin of 7 runs at 6.00 pm on the second day with half an hour to spare. Suffolk had required 168 runs to win in around 3 hours. The match between the two sides at Hertford in June had also been won by Hertfordshire. For the winners, Dumbelton scored 67 and Rudd 56, which included 6 fours. For Suffolk, Mustard's 52 included 1 five and 9 fours. Cobbold had a strained thigh that limited his bowling. In the Hertfordshire second innings, Lang took over the wicket-keeping duties after lunch from Pritchett.
