Durham won this match by an innings and 35 runs at 6.45 pm on the first day. Play continued beyond 6.00 pm, the time set for the close on the first day, as Lincolnshire had only two wickets remaining. For the winners, Morris took 11 wickets in the match for 61 runs, including 6 for 10 in the Lincolnshire first innings. Stoner's 77 included 9 fours. Heavy rain for three hours early on the morning of the first day was blamed for making the wicket very difficult for the batsmen. Thompson top-scored for Lincolnshire with 30 not out in their second innings. This was the only match completed in a single day during the season. [For the Durham innings, the Durham scorebook gives Cumberlege c Hedworth, whereas all other sources, including match accounts, give caught Hibbert and this version has been preferred.]
[Missing: In Lincolnshire first innings who held substitute catch.]
