Hertfordshire won this return match by 5 wickets at 6.00 pm on the second day, after requiring 67 runs in their second innings with 80 minutes left for play. Hertfordshire thus repeated the success they had at Watford in June. For the winners, there were 23 fours, 12 threes and 8 twos in Titchmarsh's 170, scored in just over four hours. Coleman took 11 wickets in the match for 135 runs. In Hertfordshire first innings Titchmarsh and Fellowes added 82 runs for the ninth wicket. Golding injured himself when catching Cozens-Hardy and batted down the order. For the losers, Barratt top scored with 44. Pilch was out first ball in both innings. Worman did not bowl in the Hertfordshire second innings as he was suffering from a leg strain.
