This rain-affected match ended as a draw, with Monmouthshire gaining a point for the lead on first innings. Despite being behind on first innings, Berkshire started batting after luncheon at 2.20 pm on the second day needing 88 runs to win. 34 runs had been scored for the loss of one wicket when heavy rain stopped play at 2.45 pm and the match was abandoned at 5.40 pm when it was judged that no further play would be possible. For Monmouthshire, there were 9 fours in Silverlock's 77. In the Monmouthshire first innings, Stedman and Hudden added 72 runs for the seventh wicket. For Berkshire, Cave scored 67.
In the Berkshire first innings, Brown and Cave put on 104 runs for the fifth wicket. In the Berkshire first innings when the score was 171-5 wickets, Gould took over the wicket-keeping duties from Williams "who did not appear to be in his usual form."
