This return match was drawn with Northamptonshire requiring in their second innings 93 runs to win in 25 minutes. The task was not attempted. The previous encounter between the two teams at The Oval in July had also been drawn. For the visitors, there were 7 fours in W J Baker's 74. In the Surrey 2nd XI first innings Kersley and Clode put on 62 runs for the ninth wicket.
For Northamptonshire, H E Kingston's 86 contained 8 fours and W H Kingston's 76 included 10 fours. In the home team's first innings, they put on 137 for the second wicket, which was the second highest partnership for that wicket during the season.
