Norfolk won by 9 wickets shortly before 4.30 pm on the second day, after Durham had followed on 136 runs behind. For the winners, Relf's 102 contained 20 fours, 1 three and 3 twos, Garnier's 74 not out included 1 six and 11 fours, and Staples's 57 contained 7 fours. Relf's century was scored before lunch on the first day and he was dismissed immediately on the resumption without adding to his total. In the Norfolk first innings, Garnier and Staples put on 86 for the ninth wicket and Garnier and Shore 52 for the tenth. Relf's 5 catches in the match was the equal highest of the season by a fieldsman with two others. For the losers, there were 11 fours in Butler's 56 and 2 sixes and 8 fours in E W Elliot's 50, an innings of under an hour. In the Durham first innings, the Durham scorebook gives Hoar ct Page, but all other sources listed give ct Penn and this latter version has been preferred.
