This return match was drawn, after Norfolk had been set a victory target of 188 in one hour and five minutes that was not attempted. The encounter between the two sides in July at Great Yarmouth had been won by Norfolk. For Northumberland, there were 7 fours, 12 threes, and 8 twos in Thompson's 112, scored in around 3½ hours. Clayton's 78, scored in 65 minutes, included 12 fours. For Norfolk, Fryer's 51 contained 7 fours. In the visitors' first innings, Partridge and Fryer had a partnership of 101 for the fifth wicket, and Blake and Nichols put on 56 runs for the ninth wicket.
