This was Worcestershire's last match in the Minor Counties Championship before graduating to the First-Class County Championship in 1899. It ended as a draw, Worcestershire having won at Worcester when the two teams met earlier in the month. The visitors remained undefeated during the season, and won the Championship outright for the third year running.
They had shared it when the Championship was launched in 1895. There were 10 fours in W L Foster's 70 for the visitors, an innings of 150 minutes. Wilson's 34 was scored in about 12 minutes. In the Worcestershire innings, Wilson and Burrows added 55 runs for the ninth wicket. For Buckinghamshire, de Paravicini top-scored with 63. The 59 overs and 36 maidens bowled by Wright were both the most bowled in an innings during the season, and the 36 maidens were the second most in a match.
