Wiltshire won this return match by an innings around 4.30 pm on the second day, thus reversing the result of the encounter between the two sides at Newport the previous week, which had been won by Monmouthshire. Rain limited play on the Saturday morning to ten minutes and Wiltshire declared at lunchtime. The visitors needed 108 runs to avoid an innings defeat and were bowled out in an hour and a half for 89 runs. For the winners, Awdry scored 72 and Goudge 68. In the Wiltshire innings Goudge and Newman put on 80 runs for the eighth wicket, which was the second largest partnership for that wicket during the season. F Phillips kept wicket for Monmouthshire when Mayes bowled, and Miller for Wiltshire when Smart bowled.
[Missing: Umpires; extras breakdown; in Monmouthshire 1st inns fall of 1st to 6th wicket; in Wiltshire inns boundaries in Awdry's 72 and Goudge's 68.]
