Rain-affected drawn return match with Staffordshire winning on first innings. On the second day, rain prevented a start until 5.15 pm and then halted play for good at 6.00 pm when the match was abandoned. It was estimated that three to four thousand spectators were present on the first day. The match between the two sides at Blackburn earlier in the month had been won by Staffordshire.
