The match was abandoned at tea on the 2nd day when Tamil Union tried to send Peiris in to bat in place of C.M.Hathurusingha who was not out at the break. Peiris had been playing in another match. Colts Cricket Club refused to continue and were fined 2500 Rs. The Board ruled no points to be awarded and the Final was postponed from April 7, 8, 9, 10 to April 27, 28, 29, 30 pending Tamil Union's appeal to have the 1.5 points already earned recorded. The appeal was rejected but in the event Tamil Union's fine of 0.5 points for slow over rates would have put them out anyway
