The result was disputed. When Constantine bowled Alty with what was apparently the first ball of the final over, the players left the field, even though Ormskirk still had one wicket to fall. Ormskirk claimed a draw on the question of time, stating that the last man did not have time to go in to bat. However, Bootle claimed a victory stating that Ormskirk's last man was absent.
