The match was originally scheduled for five days on March 23-27 but heavy rain in the week before the match led to the organisers to shift the start from Friday to Sunday and reduce the match to four days. The state of the ground delayed play on Day 1 and riots prevented play at all. It was originally decided to cancel the Supertest and play two limited-overs matches on Tuesday and Wednesday, but the following morning this decision was reversed and play began.
