GS Chappell fell to the second ball of the game and from there the Australian batting collapsed on a hard dry wicket to some magnificent bowling by le Roux, well supported by Rice.
Despite the loss of two early wickets the World XI was able to reach their target in just fifty minutes. Lillee and pascoe, both suffering injury were unable to be considered for selection in the Australian team. In order not to disappoint the large crowd assembled a further unofficial match was arranged.
