Greenidge was out in the opening over of the West Indian innings.
Austin also left before a run had been scored but not until the fourth over of the innings. The Australians also began poorly with Wessels falling to the third ball of the innings. DW Hookes and IM Chappell batted Australia to victory, Hookes hitting a six from the bowling of CL King at 6.15 p.m. with over four and one half hours to spare. To entertain the assembled crown a thirty over match was then played.
