Overnight rain caused a delay in commencement of play and a reduction in overs from forty to twenty-five. After the World XI had completed their innings a hail storm swept the ground. After the storm had departed and the Australians were preparing to bat the umpires declared the waterlogged surrounds to be dangerous and the match was abandoned at three o'clock.
