The match was ruled to be a draw by the South African Cricket Association when Eastern Province walked off when the umpires considered there was still one over of the 20 in the last hour remaining. Eastern Province claimed they had been told by the umpires initially that the over before the drinks break was to be the first of the 20, and then after the drinks break the umpires then adivsed the scorers that the last hour would start after the drinks break.
